A flashback episode of will explore the "complex history" of Kit Green. It's been teased that secrets from the character's backstory will be revealed in the special instalment of the soap opera later this month.
Kit, played by Jacob Roberts, was introduced on the show last year and it was later revealed that of Bernie Winter (). She placed him up for adoption when he was a baby and it then took years for him to reconnect with his biological mother in Weatherfield.
It was recently confirmed that Kit already knows the new characters Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton) and Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty), who turned up earlier this year. There's been ahead of in scenes that are yet to air.
Last month, it was revealed that Mick and Lou are set to leave in the coming months as part of . A spokesperson for Corrie told at the time: "Mick and Lou were brought into the show to cause chaos on the cobbles in the build up to a major storyline in the summer."

ITV has now confirmed that a special episode, which will air on May 16, will expose the truth behind Kit, Mick and Lou's "intertwined past". The show is set to reveal secrets and events that shaped Kit "into the man he is today".
The flashback episode will transport viewers back to 2007 as it explores the teenage years of the three characters. It's been teased: "Secrets will be revealed, and long-buried traumas will resurface, shedding light on Kit's motivations and the reason behind his complicated relationships."
Younger versions of Kit, Mick and Lou will be played by Brook Debio, Lewis Walton and Charlotte Alex-Riley respectively in the episode. ITV has also announced that the show "went to great lengths to authentically reflect 2007."
Jason Wingard, the episode's director, said in a statement released this week: "We had to do a lot of research into what would give away the era. In 2007 there were DVDs in shops and music, cars and phones were all different."
Jason added: "During the planning stage, we had a lot of department meetings. We had to control every aspect of the location, ensuring the right cars and houses were in the background to capture the perfect atmosphere for the episode.
"It's been a fantastic experience directing this episode, I'm really proud of the performances. The entire cast and crew were amazing and the whole process was exhilarating."
Cast member Jacob said ahead of the episode airing: "I was grateful that we'd be delving into Kit's past to show why he is the way he is. He lived a completely different life back then, one he's worked hard to leave behind, unlike Mick."
He added: "The arrival of Mick and Lou has definitely shaken Kit. He knows they bring trouble, and now, as a Detective Constable, his job is to maintain peace in Weatherfield. Kit was very much like Mick and Lou growing up, and they hold that over him so he's terrified of his past coming back to haunt him. It was also quite surreal meeting Brook, the actor playing young Kit – definitely a funny experience to come face-to-face with a younger version of myself!"
Coronation Street continues tomorrow night from 8pm on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player. The special flashback episode is set to air on May 16.
