Viral food critic Carmie Sellito visited in London earlier this week and was taken aback by the prices of the luxury Easter eggs in the renowned store's hall. He expressed his surprise after tasting the Venchi Chocolate BacioDiDama egg, which £68 and features creamy caramel chocolate on the outside and dark, crunchy chocolate on the inside.

The food critic, who has previously reviewed some of Harrods' most expensive items, conducted a taste test to determine if it's really worth shelling out nearly £70 for a single Easter egg.

Carmie couldn't hide his excitement, exclaiming: "Can I just say, this is the nicest looking Easter egg I've ever seen. Look at the box, the details are mad." He was even more thrilled when he discovered the chocolate egg came with a protective case to prevent it from breaking, remarking: "That's actually really smart,".

He continued to share his enthusiasm, saying: "The woman serving me told me that this chocolate is really famous in Italy. Me being Italian, I had to buy it." Carmie could not help but show off the egg's exquisite design, adding: "Look at that. Look at the detail. It smells amazing."

Upon tasting the chocolate, Carmie was visibly delighted, exclaimed: "What? Oh my! Inside the chocolate egg are these little chocolates attached to it. These are like hazelnut biscuit. Not to mention, the chocolate around the egg is also so tasty."

He was so taken by the flavour that he declared: "No wonder it's so popular in Italy. It tastes amazing." His approval was evident as he gave the Venchi egg a high score of 9.5 out of 10 and announced plans to return to Harrods for another one for his parents.

However, not everyone shared Carmie's sentiment, as evidenced by the mixed reactions in his video comments. One viewer critiqued: "I would have expected a posher box for 68 quid."

Others were skeptical about the price, with remarks such as: "Sorry, no chocolate is worth that," and "Couldn't justify paying that." A humorous comment came from someone who joked: "And here's me refusing to pay £3.45 for an egg."

Yet, there were those who expressed desire for the luxurious treat, with one person commenting they "absolutely need this". Some acknowledged the steep price but felt it could be justified. "Lot of money for Easter egg but if you can afford it go for it," someone said while another suggested: "Looks like it's worth every penny,".

The Venchi Easter egg has become such a hit that it's currently sold out on their website, and while it's not up for grabs on the Harrods site, shoppers like Carmie might still snag one in-store.

Venchi has tantalisingly described the egg as "an invitation to dive into authentic delight, discovery and blossoming emotion". They tout the confection as a journey for the senses, blending nature with classic tastes: "A mouthwatering encounter between a crunchy glutenfree biscuit, creamy caramel chocolate and dark chocolate," they say.

Also on the luxury chocolate front, Fortnum and Mason are tempting sweet tooths with a trio of floral Easter Eggs for a hefty £60, alongside six praline eggs priced at £30. For those looking to splurge, their Spring Hamper is on offer, though it comes with a steep £200 price tag.

For those seeking other opulent Easter treats, Hotel Chocolat presents The Easter Sleekstar at £29.95, and Marks and Spencer tempts with an Easter Treat Letterbox Gift for £25.
