Jarrod Bowen insists his spat with West Ham fans just shows how much he loves the club. Bowen got involved in a row with travelling supporters after West Ham lost at Wolves in the Carabao Cup but then apologised on social media.
West Ham captain Bowen then really made amends by scoring in the club’s win at Nottingham Forest last weekend as he also celebrated his England recall. Bowen admits West Ham have had a tough start to the season but believes they have turned the corner now.
He told the BBC: “It was something in the game where you’re 2-1 up with, I think, 15 minutes to go, in a really good place, and you end up losing the game.
“So, obviously I was disappointed and angry with ourselves for letting the lead go, and then you get caught up in amongst it with fans. But, you know, I think it's for the love of the club. I think the fans have got a lot of love for the club, I've got a lot of love for the club.
“I always wear my heart on my sleeve, got a lot of passion, and I want the team to do well, and we've come off the back of three defeats that we were all really disappointed with.

“I think sometimes those things can happen. I think for someone who understands the club, like I think I do, I don't think it's almost frowned upon. You know, it's not what I want to be doing falling out with people but sometimes these things happen in football.
“For the good times and the bad times, you're always together. Even in those bad times, I know we was always together as a club. The fans were still turning up week in, week out, still singing away. Come to Nottingham Forest on the on the weekend, probably not expecting the result but we put in the performance that we did, we can enjoy that moment after the game. We’re all singing songs and enjoying winning three points. In football you go through the highs and the lows, and I've been through a lot at West Ham, but it's all part and parcel of it.”

Bowen, who has scored one goal in his 16 caps, is now set to get a chance for England in this camp and it could be his big chance ahead of the World Cup even if the competition is fierce.
He added: “Attacking is probably the best options England’s had for a few years now. I've been in and out of squads for a couple of years, and always had that competition for places, and I think it's really good. I think it really brings the best out of you.
“I think for me it's a really big year. I've got a really big year at club level, and then also international level as well. You know there's a World Cup around the corner. So, I think for me, being back in the squad is just trying to show what I do at West Ham, week in, week out. I think that's all that I can do.

“I think even when I was out of the squad last time I felt like I was in a good place at club level and sometimes you don't get selected in the squad, and that's what you have to face. I was disappointed, but ultimately I couldn't change what happened.
“All I could do was have a good pre-season, try and come back in a really good place, and then work to be back into the first squad, which I've managed to do.
“Now, it's take my opportunities if they come about here, and once this is done go back to club and keep doing the same things and almost kind of repeat that process and just trust in my own abilities.”
