Maya Jama's representatives have been contacted for comment. Maya began her professional career in 2014, when she moved from Bristol to London and started working her way up in the entertainment industry.
She gained traction on ITV2’s hip-hop comedy panel show Don’t Hate the Playaz, and continued to impress fans with her charisma on her Radio 1, where she presented weekend shows every week for two years.
When she left the station in 2020, BBC bosses explained her exit, saying "exciting commitments later in the year" meant Jama could no longer "dedicate the time needed to her show".
However, her big break only came in 2023 when she was named the new host of Love Island after Laura Whitmore stepped down from the role. This new position made her more of a household name in the UK and also raised her international profile.
In February 2024 Jama co-hosted the BRIT Awards, which is one of the UK’s biggest music events. She teared up on the red carpet while celebrating her friend Raye's big win, which she later admitted to, saying: "Honestly, before when they went on camera I had all the tears and I said "Raye, listen. I know you're my mate, but I can't cry on camera. It's not my moment. It's yours!'"

Jama was also confirmed as a new panellist on that same year. When she turned 30, the TV personality told : "I feel like I need to set new goals because all my childhood dreams have already come true."
Off-screen, Jama has also dabbled in the fashion industry. She has landed brand partnerships with Pretty Little Thing and also collaborated with luxury fashion house Dolce & Gabbana. On top of that she has appeared on the cover of major magazines, including British Vogue.
Although Jama is only getting more famous by the day, she has hinted that she would like to step back from the spotlight one day to start a family - but only with "the right person". She is currently dating Manchester City footballer Ruben Dias, and the pair were recently spotted together at KSI’s Baller League event.
