Tyka Nelson, who was known as Prince's sister, has passed away and her son confirmed the sad news.
President Nelson announced the death of his mother Tyka this Monday, November 4, and a post on from a user called Charles "Chazz" Smith added: "Our family is very saddened to share the news of my cousin Tyka Evene Nelson who passed away this morning."
Prince's sister Tyka also worked as a singer and released four albums between 1988 and 2011. She was due to take her leave from stage and deliver her retirement and farewell concert last June, at the Dakota in New York, but fell ill, forcing the performance to go on without her. She was 64 years old.
Tyka's son President Nelson first shared the news of her death with The Star Tribune but gave no other details regarding her death. The cause has yet to be revealed.
