On the second day of the second Test match between India and the West Indies, Team India declared their first innings at a commanding 518 for 5. In response, the West Indies had a shaky start, losing an early wicket — thanks to a brilliant effort by Sai Sudarshan. Despite being injured, the young cricketer pulled off a remarkable catch that left everyone stunned.
Sai Sudarshan’s Daring CatchSai Sudarshan, who impressed with the bat earlier, showcased his sharp fielding skills as well. In the eighth over of the West Indies innings, Ravindra Jadeja bowled to opener John Campbell, who attempted a powerful sweep shot. The ball traveled sharply toward Sai Sudarshan, who was stationed at short leg.
Even though the ball hit him hard on the hand, he managed to hold on and complete the catch — a truly courageous effort considering his injury. Campbell, shocked by the reflex catch, had to walk back after scoring 10 runs off 25 balls.
Though Sai Sudarshan later left the field due to injury, his commitment and athleticism were widely praised. The video of his stunning catch has gone viral across social media platforms.
Brilliant With the Bat TooEarlier in the match, Sai Sudarshan played a composed and mature knock for Team India. Batting in top form, he scored 87 runs off 165 balls, hitting 12 boundaries before narrowly missing out on his maiden Test century. This was his second half-century in Test cricket.
So far, the left-hander has accumulated 234 runs in eight innings across five Tests at an average of 29.25, including two fifties. His performances have shown consistency and promise, marking him as one of India’s bright young talents.
