On the strength of Yashasvi Jaiswal's brilliant century, Team India once again showed its dominance over England and set a target of 374 runs in front of them in the fifth Test match. By the end of the third day of the match, England has scored runs at the loss of one wicket and is 324 runs behind the target.

Apart from Jaiswal, India scored two more half-centuries. Nightwatchman Akashdeep, who came to bat on the second day, scored the first fifty of his career and played an innings of 66 runs. He faced 94 balls in his innings and hit 12 fours. Washington Sundar, who scored a century in the Manchester Test, played an innings of 53 runs in 77 balls and tried to take the team past 400 but missed it very close. Ravindra Jadeja also played an innings of 53 runs in which he hit five fours in 77 balls.

India scored 224 runs in the first innings. They did not let England go much ahead in the first innings and bowled them out for 247 runs. The host team had a lead of 23 runs. India scored 396 runs in the second innings and gave England a strong target. They have two days to achieve this target and that is why England seems to have the upper hand.

Duckett and Crowley showed their colours

England came out to chase a strong target and Ben Duckett and Jack Crowley tried to give them a good start. Both of them had laid the foundation for it. The team's score had reached 50 when Siraj bowled Crowley. With this, the day's play was declared over. Duckett is playing after scoring 34 runs. The match is at an exciting stage with two days left. The match can go either way.

Akashdeep and Yashasvi did wonders

Akashdeep was sent by the team on the second day just to save wickets but he was in a different mood. He troubled the England bowlers with his batting. India started the third day with 75 runs at the loss of two wickets. Akashdeep took charge with Yashasvi. As long as Akashdeep was on the crease, he was facing the England bowlers more than Yashasvi. In this way he completed his half-century. However, shortly after this he was caught by Gus Atkinson off the ball of Josh Tongue. Akashdeep and Yashasvi shared a 107-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Atkinson gave India the fourth blow by LBWing captain Shubman Gill. He could score only 11 runs. Karun Nair has disappointed once again and he was caught by wicketkeeper Jamie Smith on Atkinson's ball after scoring 17 runs. Meanwhile, Yashasvi had completed his century and after that he also returned to the pavilion. He was caught by Tongue at the hands of Overton. Jaiswal faced 164 balls and scored 118 runs with the help of 14 fours and two sixes.

Amazing performance of Jadeja and Sundar

Jadeja then handled the innings with Dhruv Jurel and took the team forward. Both of them had added 50 runs when Jurel got LBW on the ball of Jamie Overton. He scored 34 runs with the help of four fours in 46 balls. Jadeja then handled the innings with Sundar but he got out shortly after crossing the fifty mark. Tongue did not let Siraj open his account. After this, Sundar played fast and completed his half-century. Tongue got him caught by Jack Crowley and ended India's innings.
