New Delhi: Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bharadwaj announced that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will tender his resignation on Tuesday. Following the resignation, a legislative party meeting will be held to elect a new leader. Bharadwaj explained at a press conference that the elected leader would present their claim to the President through the Lieutenant Governor. He expressed confidence that the process would be completed within a week.

On Sunday, Kejriwal announced his decision to step down and not sit in the Chief Minister's chair until the people of Delhi declare him "honest." He also called for the Delhi elections to be advanced from February next year to November this year. Bharadwaj remarked, "It has never happened in history that a sitting Chief Minister, after coming out of jail, is announcing that if you consider me honest, then vote for me. This will be the first election in the country where a Chief Minister is campaigning on the basis of honesty, especially with all central government agencies, including ED, CBI, and Income Tax, targeting him."

He further stated, "Despite the BJP's actions over the past two years, the Chief Minister still believes in the people and his own honesty. The people of Delhi are eager for the elections so they can vote and reelect Arvind Kejriwal." Bharadwaj emphasized that this would be a historic election focused on honesty. He added that Kejriwal's decision to resign after coming out of jail, rather than resigning under pressure, was viewed positively by the public.

In response to Kejriwal's resignation announcement, Congress' Sandeep Dikshit criticized the move, suggesting it was more about business than politics. Meanwhile, AAP has convened a meeting this evening to address the situation.
