TRIPURA: In response to severe flooding in Tripura, emergency teams have been actively working to provide relief and rescue affected residents. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) successfully evacuated 125 people from flood-stricken areas of Tripura, deploying 11 teams for these critical operations.

In addition to the NDRF's efforts, the Indian Air Force (IAF) played a key role by airdropping over 4,000 food packets and 28 tons of essential relief supplies to residents stranded in affected areas. The IAF's Mi-17 and ALH helicopters, operating from Agartala, targeted locations such as Rangamati, Jatanbari, Udaipur, Paschim Malbasa, and Shankar Pali, ensuring that vital aid reached those in need.

On August 23, the NDRF reported the recovery of one deceased person along with the evacuation of 125 individuals from the flood-hit regions of Karbook, Amarpur, Gomti, Sepahijala, and Khowai.

Tripura’s Chief Minister, Manik Saha, is set to lead an all-party meeting on Saturday to evaluate the current flood situation and discuss further actions. The Chief Minister previously assured the public that the situation was being managed and expressed appreciation for the support from the central government.

Recent updates indicate that the floods have resulted in 24 fatalities, two injuries, and two missing persons. The floods have caused significant damage to infrastructure, including roads, power lines, buildings, and agricultural assets such as crops, fishery ponds, and livestock. To support those affected, the district administration has established 558 relief camps since August 19.
