'Jail Wala' Chief Minister Now 'Bail Wala': BJP's Gaurav Bhatia Targets Arvind Kejriwal

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Gaurav Bhatia criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, calling him a 'bail wala' CM after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

Bhatia, speaking at a press conference, said, "The Supreme Court has once again shown a mirror to AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He has received conditional bail. The 'jail wala' CM is now a 'bail wala' CM."

Bhatia also took aim at Kejriwal for his previous statements advocating that politicians should resign if faced with allegations. He claimed that Kejriwal's refusal to resign reflects his lack of morality. "Kejriwal should resign as per the demands of Delhi's citizens, but he won’t because he lacks morality. He used to say that any politician facing allegations should resign, yet now he is out on bail and still in office," Bhatia said.

The BJP leader further criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for celebrating the bail order, stating that Kejriwal has not been acquitted or discharged, and the trial will continue. "Arvind Kejriwal has not received any relief from the courts, and no charges have been dropped. The AAP must explain why Kejriwal is not resigning. The BJP maintains zero tolerance for corruption, and we believe that Kejriwal will eventually have to resign," Bhatia added.

Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering investigation into alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. He was subsequently arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 26, 2024, while already in ED custody.
