New Delhi: On the 122nd death anniversary of the revered philosopher and monk Swami Vivekananda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to him on Thursday. PM Modi highlighted how Vivekananda's teachings continue to inspire and empower millions.
Using social media platform 'X', PM Modi wrote, "I pay homage to Swami Vivekananda on his Punya Tithi. His teachings give strength to millions. His profound wisdom and relentless pursuit of knowledge are also very motivating."
The Prime Minister also emphasized the government's dedication to realizing Vivekananda's vision of a prosperous and progressive society. "We reiterate our commitment to fulfilling his dream of a prosperous and progressive society," he wrote on 'X'.
About Swami Vivekananda: Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902) was a key figure in the introduction of Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. He is best known for his speech at the Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago in 1893, where he began with the words, "Sisters and brothers of America," earning widespread acclaim. His teachings focused on the importance of self-realization, universal brotherhood, and social service. He founded the Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Math, which continue to promote his teachings and engage in philanthropic activities. Swami Vivekananda's contributions have had a lasting impact on Indian society and the global spiritual landscape.
