Satellite Images Show Extensive Damage from Israeli Strikes on Iranian Military Sites

Satellite imagery has shown the extent of damage from Israeli strikes on two strategic Iranian military sites near Tehran. The attacks targeted facilities at Iran's Parchin military base, linked to past nuclear weapons research, and the Khojir military base, associated with Iran's ballistic missile program.

Images analyzed by experts showed buildings at Parchin with considerable damage, where in the past, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) suspected Iran conducted nuclear-related explosives tests. While Iran claims its nuclear program is peaceful, several intelligence agencies have asserted that the country had an active weapons program until 2003. Damage at Khojir revealed structural impacts on at least two buildings, indicating possible destruction of missile production areas.

Although Iranian military officials have yet to confirm the damage, they reported the loss of four air defense soldiers and one civilian in the attack. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei acknowledged the incident, urging caution without immediate retaliation. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the strikes had "achieved all its goals" in severely damaging Iranian assets.

Satellite photos also revealed fires near Iran's Tange Bijar gas facility in Ilam province, though it remains uncertain if this incident is linked to the strikes. Analysts suggest the damage includes areas where Iran manufactures solid fuel for ballistic missiles. Additionally, the attack may have affected Iran’s overall missile production capacity.

The IAEA confirmed that the strikes did not impact Iran’s main nuclear sites, with director Rafael Mariano Grossi urging caution to ensure the safety of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard, responsible for the missile program, has not commented on the strikes.

Israel’s actions likely aimed to disrupt Iran’s missile replenishment capabilities following recent attacks. The strikes were highly targeted, avoiding civilian areas, unlike Iran's earlier, less precise ballistic missile attacks on Israel. Footage from a factory near Tehran’s airport showed significant damage, possibly affecting the oil and gas industry.
