Bangalore: BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks and meetings during his visit to the United States, suggesting that he would not be surprised if Gandhi were to meet with terrorists in the future. At a press conference on Friday, Surya condemned Gandhi's comments on the potential removal of reservations, calling them damaging.

Surya also took issue with Gandhi's meetings with what he described as "anti-India" elements, including Ilhar Omar, and accused Gandhi of engaging with agents from Khalistan, Pakistan, China, and Bangladesh. "Rahul Gandhi's statements on the removal of reservations are quite damaging... The kind of people he is meeting is shocking. Ilhar Omar is anti-India... It won't be a surprise if he holds a meeting with terrorists someday," Surya said. During his visit to the U.S., Gandhi discussed the possibility of scrapping the reservation system in India during interactions with students and faculty at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, on September 9.

In addition, Surya criticized Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara's comments on a recent stone-pelting incident at a Ganapati procession in Mandya. Surya questioned whether Parameshwara would consider it accidental if stones were thrown at his own house during such an event. "I want to ask the state Home Minister, G Parameshwara, if stones were pelted at your house during the Ganesh procession, would you call it accidental?" Surya added.

Earlier on Friday, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy visited the Mandya district following reports of violence related to the stone-pelting incident. Kumaraswamy criticized the Congress-led state government for allegedly appeasing one community for political gain.
