Bhubaneswar: Former chief minister and BJD president Naveen Patnaik was on Sunday admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, a team of doctors had visited Naveen Niwas last night. He was kept under observation and later shifted to a multi-speciality hospital in the city this afternoon for better treatment.
In its medical bulletin, SUM Ultimate Medicare, Bhubaneswar, said that the BJD supremo was admitted to the hospital at 5.15 pm due to dehydration. “His condition is stable and he is responding well to treatment,” it added.
Notably, Naveen, who is the Leader of the Opposition in Odisha Assembly, had returned to Bhubaneswar last month after fully recovering from his spine surgery for cervical arthritis at Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.
On Saturday, he had held a meeting with senior party leaders and MLAs at Naveen Niwas to discuss strategy to counter the BJP government’s proposed move to curtail the powers of panchayat representatives, including block chairman. The party is planning to launch public protests against what it described as an attack on grassroots democracy, sources said.
