A BBC special was interrupted as a celebrity guest burst into tears live on air as fans watched the countdown to Oasis' highly anticipated comeback. On Friday (July 4), fans from all across the globe gathered at the Principality Stadium in the heart of Cardiff as the band kick off the first leg of their UK tour after 16 years of feuding. For those who missed out on tickets to the band's opening show, BBC News launched a live TV special on BBC iPlayer hosted by Tina Daheley and Jason Mohammad.
As fans shared some of their favourite memories from the group in their heyday, the hosts welcomed musician Fran Cutler onto the show, who was a backing singer for the rock group in the late 1990s. As she reflected on her time with them, she became overwhelmed with emotion on the TV special.
When Jason quizzed the former backing singer on how she felt about the reunion, she gushed: "I can't even begin to tell you. I mean I'm on the verge of tears I'm so excited. It's going to be so amazing.
"I think it's just so amazing, it's something that everybody's been waiting for including fans, friends. I knew it would happen one day, it had to. That's the way life is, you go in and out of these sort of things and you fall out and then you make friends again - and they're brothers, they're family."
The doting mum went on to admit that she will be "crying all night" because "all of the wounds have been healed and it will be a beautiful night where everyone comes together."
It is understood hundreds of Oasis superfans have been camping outside the Welsh venue for 24 hours ahead of the gig to make sure they get a front row seat to the historic performance.
It comes after Liam Gallagher vowed to "do as he's told" on the much-anticipared Oasis reunion tour as he shared his limited sway over the set list.
When quizzed by a fan on how much influence he'd have over the setlist, the musician hinted that the majority of the tunes for the Cardiff gig were picked by Noel.
The question posed to him was: "Liam who will decide on the final word of the set list? You or Noel? There's a lot of songs to decide on." He simply replied: "Noel's the boss, I'll do what I'm told as I'm a good boy."
The group will perform two nights in the Welsh capital before heading to Heaton Park in their hometown of Manchester where they will perform five gigs on July 11, 12, 16, 19, and 20.
The brothers will then head on to the rest of the UK leg of their reunion tour, which includes performances at London's Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Many fans may have wondered why Oasis have chosen the city of Cardiff to kick off their 41-date Live 25 reunion tour.
When asked on social media about the decision to pick the Welsh capital, Liam Gallagher responded by saying: "Because Cardiff is the b*****".
