has claimed that a listening device was discovered in his personal bathroom at the Foreign Office following a visit from Prime Minister in 2017.

In his new book, Unleashed, the former Prime Minister alleges that Netanyahu's security team may have placed a bugging device in the toilets.

The former described how Netanyahu excused himself to use the facilities during their meeting.

Johnson wrote that the bathroom, which he described as similar to "the gents in a posh club," was later found to have been bugged during a routine sweep for surveillance devices.

He also claimed that he was informed about the device after Netanyahu's visit. Johnson wrote: "It may or may not be a coincidence, but I am told that later... they found a listening device in the thunderbox."

When questioned about the incident in an interview with , Johnson declined to comment, saying that all the details are included in his book.

However, this wouldn't be the first time that Israel has been accused of potential surveillance.

In 2019, it was reported that Israel may have planted mobile phone surveillance devices near the White House.

Israel has consistently denied involvement in the US incident, and it remains unclear whether they were ever confronted about the alleged bugging of the Foreign Office.

Netanyahu has a longstanding association with Israel's intelligence services, including Mossad, although he has never officially worked for the agency.

During their meeting, Johnson described Netanyahu as being visibly impressed by the history of the Foreign Office, particularly when shown the desk where the Balfour Declaration was supposedly drafted.

However, in his typically self-deprecating style, Johnson admitted he wasn't sure if the desk was genuinely the one used by Arthur Balfour, pulling out a Bic biro instead of a historic pen.

The revelations from Unleashed are likely to raise eyebrows, with Johnson's book officially launching on October 10.
