A Channel 5 celebrity is set to grace the upcoming series of ITV's Celebrity Big Brother, making their entrance on April 7, over a year after being diagnosed with cancer, reports claim.
In February 2024, Trisha Goddard revealed a heartbreaking turn in her battle with breast cancer, having first fought the disease back in 2008.
As reported by The Sun, she appears to be thrilled about diving into the reality show fray.
Trisha has been battling secondary breast cancer - also known as metastatic or stage 4 breast cancer - a condition treatable but incurable. It was 19 months before taking her private struggle public this February 2024 that Trisha received her diagnosis.
Trisha shot to fame with her eponymous talk show aired on ITV from 1998 till 2005 and subsequently moved to Channel 5 for a short stint.
A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother has made it clear: "Any names suggested for Celebrity Big Brother are purely speculation," reports .
Trisha, who has been open about her initial cancer journey, mentioned she decided to go public with the latest diagnosis due to the burden of concealing the situation.
The beloved TV presenter has bravely opened up about her health struggles, revealing to HELLO! magazine that she no longer wants to hide her condition. She confessed: "I can't lie, I can't keep making up stories. It gets to a stage, after a year and a half, when keeping a secret becomes more of a burden than anything else."
Discussing the impact of her diagnosis on her public image, she said: "My worry is that people will start seeing me as a frail little thing, and that if [the news] got out, I'd be judged, or people would change the way they are with me, or that I wouldn't work."
Determined to maintain her professional integrity, she added: "I'm a journalist; I don't want to be 'the story'. I don't want to be interviewing someone and for them to say to me: 'I'm so sorry.'".
Taking control of her story, she chose to share her diagnosis on Instagram, posting pictures from her interview and writing: "Doing this is tough... I've been keeping a difficult secret for 19 months now, but like my new hairstyle - I can't hide it anymore."
In other news, CBB hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best have stirred excitement by teasing the upcoming series' line-up. The pair revealed they've seen the full list of housemates and are thrilled with the selection.
AJ and Will shared a glimpse of their enthusiasm with fans, filming themselves en route to the CBB set to prepare for the show's launch next week.
The television personality declared: "It's going to be great, and we've just found out who the housemates are. Guys! It's major."
Celebrity Big Brother returns to ITV on April 7.
