Apple crumble is a tasty winter pudding, often paired with custard or ice cream.

They can be made in a variety of ways including adding oats to the topping or even changing the filling.

However, you can't go wrong with a traditional apple crumble, and it couldn't be easier with this BBC recipe.

The notes said: "This is the easiest apple crumble recipe and an all-time favourite quick and easy dessert."

This recipe serves six people and will be baked in the oven within just 45 minutes.

image Ingredients: For the crumble:

300g plain flour

Pinch of salt

175g brown sugar

200g unsalted butter at room temperature, cubed

For the filling:

450g apples, peeled and cored and cut into 1cm

50g brown sugar

One tablespoon of plain flour

One pinch of ground cinnamon

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180C or 160C Fan.

Place the flour, salt and sugar in a large bowl and mix well.

Taking a few cubes of butter at a time, rub it into the flour mixture. Keep rubbing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs and all the butter is incorporated.

Place the fruit in a large bowl and sprinkle over the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir well, being careful not to break up the fruit.

Butter a 24cm ovenproof dish and spoon the fruit mixture into the bottom, then sprinkle the crumble mixture on top.

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the crumble is browned and the fruit mixture is bubbling.

Simply serve with thick cream, ice cream or custard for a delicious pudding.
