A former Bargain Hunt star was left in disbelief when a cognac bottle sold for an impressive profit. Tim Wonnacott hosted the BBC show for 12 years before stepping down in 2015. During one episode, Tim predicted that a vintage cognac bottle would initially be estimated to make £100. The Bargain Hunt Blue Team paid £47, but during the auction, a keen buyer snapped up the bottle in a deal for £150, netting the pair a profit of £103. Tim reacted with delight and said, "I can't believe it! That's marvellous." The Blue Team was also over the moon, with one of the members crying out, "Yeehaw!"
Tim was the longstanding host of the beloved BBC programme for over a decade from 2003 until 2015. Replacing David Dickinson, he presented more than 1,000 episodes of the classic British show.
When he departed the show, he released a statement that said, "I am pleased to have been part of Bargain Hunt for so many years and have thoroughly enjoyed every one of my roughly 1,200 programmes hunting out bargains with the contestants.
"Alongside continuing to voice Antiques Road Trip for the BBC, I look forward to developing new programme ideas." [sic]
The BBC also stated at the time: "We would like to thank Tim Wonnacott for his dedication to Bargain Hunt over the last 12 years and for the great expertise that he has brought to the show during that time.

"Bargain Hunt will be moving in a new direction next year utilising a team of experts who present a number of shows each. Tim continues to work with the BBC on Antiques Road Trip."
Since his departure from Bargain Hunt, Tim has continued to narrate Antiques Road Trip and its celebrity spin-off show. He also voiced Channel 5's 2020 documentary, When Classic TV Goes Horribly Wrong.
He lives with his wife, Helen, and they share three children: Alice, Fred, and Ben. In 2019, Tim and Helen sold their ten-acre country estate in West Sussex.
