'Intense' thriller sequel is voted goriest film to watch this Halloween and free to stream

Saw ll is officially the goriest film you can watch this Halloween, according to horror lovers worldwide. Researchers at Buzz Bingo gathered data from the top 30 gory horror films list on IMDB and discovered that the second instalment of the Saw series was comfortably the number one goriest film, as 71% of the film's reviews mention 'gore', 'gory' and 'blood'. Saw II is a 2005 American horror film directed by Darren Lynn Bousman and written by Leigh Whannell and Bousman. It is the sequel to Saw (2004) and the second instalment in the Saw film franchise. Following the successful opening weekend of Saw, a sequel was quickly green-lit.

Saw II stars Donnie Wahlberg, Franky G, Glenn Plummer, Beverley Mitchell, Dina Meyer, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Erik Knudsen, Shawnee Smith, and Tobin Bell.

The film's synopsis reads: "On the hunt for the twisted vigilante and serial killer Jigsaw, Detective Eric Matthews and his team must apprehend the elusive murderer to rescue eight people trapped in an abandoned house, before they succumb to his torturous and murderous games. One twist to this task is that Matthews' own son, Daniel, is among the eight people Jigsaw has chosen to test for their lack of morality. With nerve gas pumping through the house, every second counts."

However, the film has a very low rating of 39% on Rotten Tomatoes, dividing the critics from the fans, who awarded it 59%. It seems the critics disliked how gory it was, as their consensus states: "Saw II is likely to please the gore-happy fans of the original, though it may be too gruesome for those not familiar with first film's premise."

One audience reviewer summed the film up and said: "Saw II takes the horror concept of the original and amplifies it, creating a more thrilling and intense experience, but it's still not for the squeamish."
