The Chase happened to air a "very apt" question about Donald Trump this evening (November 6) in the wake of him winning the US Election last night, against his opponent Kamala Harris.
Chaser Paul Sinha shed some light on when people "first became aware of Trump's reputation", more than 30 years ago, in the 90s. It comes as Bradley asked: "In a 1990 'Vanity Fair' article, whose first wife claimed that he slept with a book of Hitler speeches by his bed?"
The optional answers were Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando or Donald Trump. The Chase contestant answered Marlon, admitting that she "had no idea", however the correct answer was shown to be Donald Trump.
Chaser Paul Sinha explained the correct answer as he said: "The film Gremlins 2 came out in 1990 and there's a villian in the film that was very much a parody of Donald Trump. So in 1990, I thought that was when people were becoming aware of Donald Trump's reputation."
Fans on social media couldn't believe it as they shared their shock at the timing of the question. Posting to Twitter/X, one fan wrote: "Had to be f***ing Trump!!! The irony of that question today of all days!!!!! #TheChase."
Someone else wrote: "ITV definitely saved this #thechase for today with that Trump question," while a third added: "Did #TheChase put this episode out on purpose tonight?"
The question made total sense for one more fan, as they said: "Of course it was Trump, had to be a politician or the question wouldn't make any sense #TheChase."
One more person penned: "Well there's an apt question on #TheChase if ever I saw one."
Donald Trump was named as the 47th President of the United States earlier today after winning multiple swing states, culminating in Wisconsin, which brought him to 277 electoral votes - 270 were needed to win.
Speaking to his overjoyed supporters in Florida, the 78-year-old expressed how "this will truly be the golden age of America".
Many senior Labour politicians in the UK have previously criticised the 47th president of the United States, despite sharing their congratulations this morning.
