ITV viewers were moved to tears as they watched the 2025 Pride of Britain Awards. The annual ceremony celebrates ordinary people who have achieved extraordinary things, honouring their remarkable accomplishments. During the programme, personal trainer Javeno McLean received an award for his work improving the lives of disabled, ill and elderly people.
Javeno McLean has dedicated over twenty years to improving the lives of the elderly and individuals with disabilities or illnesses, offering free sessions at his specially equipped gym in Manchester. After realising there was a need to create an inclusive space with an area dedicated to the elderly and those with disabilities, Javeno set up his J7 Gym in 2016.
Javeno said: "Inclusivity is so important, when you include people you empower them. We live in a society where people can feel dehumanised, unseen. I don't see their wheelchair, the medication, the barriers."
Regular visitors to Javeno's gym appeared on the programme, sharing heartfelt stories about how he has transformed their lives for the better.
The emotional scenes brought viewers to tears, prompting many to take to social media to share their reactions.
One penned: "Excuse me whilst I cry for the whole #PrideofBritain programme..."
"Javeno," a second wrote alongside a crying emoji, adding: "What an incredible guy, the world needs more people like Javeno!"
"I'm already crying," echoed a third, while another said: "Have seen Javeno's videos and my god he so deserves this #prideofbritain award. The way he talks to and treats the disabled and elderly is so heartwarming." [face holding back tears emoji]. Need more people like him!"
The programme opened with with the inspiring story of Luke Mortimer, a quadruple amputee who has raised thousands of pounds for charities supporting children with disabilities.
Luke, now 12, had all four limbs amputated to save his life after contracting meningococcal meningitis septicaemia in 2019. But Luke didn't let that stop him as he has since climbed 656ft to the summit of Embsay Crag, raising more than £26,000 for charity.
He said: "I've gone through all this, everyone focused on me, and there are others in need so I want to give back to the people who saved me and others who need help."
