Joe Sugg has given fans a hilarious glimpse into his and Dianne Buswell's journey to parenthood, sharing a light-hearted clip of them discussing potential baby names. But unbeknownst to Dianne, 36, Joe was suggesting names of characters from Lord of the Rings, aware she has never seen the films. The YouTuber, 34, and Strictly Come Dancing professional recently announced they're expecting their first child together, seven years after they were partnered together on the BBC show.
With their exciting news out in the open, the couple has begun sharing glimpses of their preparations, though Joe's latest video showed a more mischievous side to their planning. In the video posted on Instagram, Joe revealed that Dianne had never seen The Lord of the Rings films, so he decided to test out a few baby names from the franchise.
He began with Sam, short for Samwise, and Arri, his twist on Aragorn, describing them as "foresty" names. Then came Theo for Theoden, followed by Gimli, which Dianne said sounded more like a dog's name.
When Joe suggested Smeagol, Dianne misheard it as Seagull and surprisingly said she liked it. Names like Legolas, Bilbo, and Frodo didn't quite make the cut, but the real surprise came when Joe mentioned Faramir.
To his shock, Dianne lit up, admitting she genuinely liked the name, especially in Joe's accent.
That's when Joe came clean: "They're all Lord of the Rings names."
"Shut up," Dianne laughed in disbelief. "I don't know any Lord of the Rings names."
Despite the revelation, Faramir remained a frontrunner. "Maybe we should call our child Faramir," Joe joked, to which Dianne replied that she actually loved the name.
Looking slightly alarmed, Joe laughed: "Wish I never did this now... is that going on the shortlist?" When Dianne confirmed it was, Joe added: "Oh god. Oh dear."
He captioned the post: "Well I guess Faramir is going on the shortlist, along with Seagull and Acorn," followed by a face-covering emoji.
In September, the couple announced they are expecting a baby boy in a sweet Instagram video. Set to Elton John's Tiny Dancer, the footage featured the couple 'painting' three stick figures, with "2026" written above the drawing.
"Our little baby boy we cannot wait to meet you," they captioned the post.
