has revealed that he will leave at the end of the season. The Belgian, whose contract expires in the summer, is considered one of the greatest Premier League players of all time and has won every club trophy possible in his 10 years at the Etihad Stadium.
, the 33-year-old told City fans: "Football led me to all of you - and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life. This city. This club. These people... gave me everything. I had no choice but to give everything back! And guess what - we won everything."
Express Sport looks at five of his options for the summer.
Neom SC
De Bruyne is reportedly . Previously known as Al-Suqoor, in 2023 Neom were taken under the ownership of NEOM, a planned city which was launched in 2017 by crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. They are understood to be among the richest clubs in world football.
French publication report that De Bruyne is open to the move.
Saudi Pro League
If De Bruyne does not fancy a promotion battle with Neom, he could join one of Saudi Arabia's big-hitters. Four teams are owned by PIF while others are bankrolled by mega-rich Saudi businesspeople. The number of high-profile players ditching Europe for big-money moves in the Middle East was not quite as high last year as it was in 2023, although that was partly because some clubs filled their foreign player quota.
SPL teams will almost certainly make room for De Bruyne if he becomes available, though.
A Champions League contender
PSG and Bayern Munich are among the heavyweights who have been linked with De Bruyne. Vincent Kompany, his former Man City team-mate, is in charge of Bayern. De Bruyne has previously played in Germany for Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg.
However, he has never competed in the top leagues of France, Spain or Italy. Experiencing a new football culture, while playing for Europe's top prize, may be high on his agenda.
MLS
Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and a host of other top names have revived MLS's reputation as a solid destination for big stars whose careers are on the wane. Newcomers San Diego FC are widely reported to be a potential destination for De Bruyne, who has been free to discuss a free transfer with foreign teams since January 1. Former and midfielder Juan Mata is a part-owner of San Diego.
Belgium
De Bruyne may decide that an emotional return to homeland Belgium is where he wants to spend the final years of his career. He played youth football for Gent and then joined Genk, for whom he made his senior debut. Many players have returned home later in their careers, especially to be closer to their extended family. De Bruyne may choose he wants to do the same.
