French beauty enthusiasts must have heard about La Roche-Posay's Hyalu B5 Serum, a hydrating and anti-ageing serum that has been compared to much pricier brands and I have been using it on my post facial days.

The serum, now 20% off on LookFantastic and reduced to £36, is packed with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 to plump the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving skin hydration and texture. While it's specifically formulated for de-hydrated skin that is showing signs of aging, loss of volume and skin elasticity, it also works amazingly after skincare treatments.

A few months ago I had my mirconeedling facials in preparation for a summer glow and the beautician advised me to apply hyaluronic acid afterwards. The goal was to drench my skin with moisture and speed up the cell turnover.

The Ordinary's Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Hydrating Serum in 30ml is comparatively cheaper on Boots for £8.80. The beautician suggested The Organic Pharmacy's Hyaluronic Acid Serum, which is currently on sale at Fenwick, marked down to £31.20.

When looking for a potent hyaluronic acid, I came across the French pharmacy brand, La Roche-Posay. Its Hyalu B5 serum has been a saviour to my post-treatment skin and helped soothe any redness. Three to four drops of the product are recommended for daily use. For me, it quickly absorbed with no sticky feeling.

The vitamin B5 helps improve and stimulate the skin's natural repairing process of damaged skin, while madecassoside acccelerates collagen synthesis, to boost skin in firmness and elasticity.

For the first five days, I religiously applied the La Roche-Posay serum every day and night and it eased any post-treatment skin tightness. The serum soaked in nicely with no stinging or and a week later, my skin was smooth and glowing.

However, using a full pipette of serum twice a day has seen me going through half a bottle in a week. La Roche-Posay's Hyalu B5 serum is available in 30ml and 15ml sizes, but it would be great if there was a 60ml version. The consistency of the serum is not light so might not be ideal for using in summer on those sweltering days.

Some reviewers mentioned that the scent was "overpowering" and "too strong". I did notice a hint of fragrance but as my skin isn't sensitive, this wasn't an issue for me.
