Linda Robson has robustly dismissed gossip surrounding her enduring bond with Pauline Quirke.
The Loose Women set was abuzz as Linda marked 35 years since the iconic BBC One series Birds Of A Feather debuted. In a nostalgic moment, Linda shared how she and Pauline were discovered.
During Wednesday's show, Linda recounted to her fellow panellists the thrilling rush to an audition that would skyrocket their careersdashing across town on a bus and arriving just in the nick of time. Their reading was so impressive, a producer pronounced, "we've got a huge success on our hands here," prompting an inkling in both stars that life was on the cusp of change.
Linda reflected on the memory affectionately while quashing any whisperings of conflict with Pauline. She detailed: "Just two friends racing across town on the bus to make it and here we are all those years later, still the bestest of friends."
She mused further: "I mean, who would have thought it?" As Linda bathed in acclaim from her co-stars including Christine Lampard, Coleen Nolan, and Katie Piperall of whom cherished watching the beloved show at home and admiration for the actress on set was palpable, reports .
Fans of the celebrity duo were left disheartened by rumours of a feud between stars Linda Robson and Pauline Quirke, especially given their deep-rooted off-screen bond.
Since their primary school days, Linda and Pauline have been inseparable, even sharing experiences at a drama club as teens. Their remarkable friendship, cherished by countless viewers, flourished on the renowned 80s sitcom Birds of a Feather.
Gossip about trouble between the two emerged when Pauline was notably absent from the Birds of a Feather 2020 Christmas special, to the dismay of Linda and fellow co-star Lesley Joseph.
Linda opened up on ITV's Loose Women about feeling let down by Pauline's absence, yet she comforted fans by confirming it wouldn't alter their long-standing relationship. She expressed: "I'm not going to lie and say Lesley and I weren't disappointed. Of course we were. We were gutted and we couldn't imagine going on without her."
In spite of feeling without Pauline, Linda was also very accepting and understanding of her choice, asserting: "We were a trio how could it possibly work without any one of us? But at the same time as all that sadness, there was acceptance and understanding, too."
Linda decided to put an end to the escalating rumours about their friendship. She stated: "Sure enough, the headlines were predictable, saying there was a 'feud' and 'bad blood' and that she'd quit because we were no longer speaking. It's such bulls***. We tried to ignore it but it was difficult when it was all we were ever asked about."
In 2022, the trio, along with Lesley, met up in Central London, putting to rest any speculation of a fallout.
Linda shared on-air: "We had our photo taken together and I got my daughter Roberta to upload it to my Instagram, captioning it: "A lovely lunch with my beautiful friends.'It was our way of saying, 'There you go, that'll shut you up!'"
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1, from 12:30pm.
