Liverpool could shave a considerable amount of money off Newcastle's asking price for Alexander Isak thanks to their secret weapon. The Reds have a vested interest in bringing the Swedish striker to Anfield, which would complete a jaw-dropping summer of spending following the arrivals of Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong already.

Eddie Howe's outfit are prepared todig their heels in and demand a new British transfer record if Isak is to leave the club. He has three years left on his contract and Newcastle have no plans to sell their talisman, unless a fee in excess of £150million is launched.

However, Liverpool have been willing to flex their financial muscles. That was evident when they paid an initial £100m for Wirtz, which could reach as high as a British-record £116m.

More money could be spent, especially if Darwin Nunez leaves the club, with Liverpool hoping to receive a fee in the region of £60m for the Uruguayan. There is also interest in Luis Diaz from Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

That money could help bridge the gap to Isak, while a clever swap deal may further bring a deal closer to completion.

GiveMeSport claim that Newcastle are looking into a move for Harvey Elliott, who further highlighted his qualities for England Under-21s at the European Championships.

The midfielder struggled for regular playing time under Arne Slot and he reportedly wants a starting role next season, as Liverpool place a £50m asking price on the young talent.

Newcastle are exploring the possibility of signing Elliott because of failed pursuits for Joao Pedro and Bryan Mbeumo, with Howe desperate to bolster their attacking options as they return to the Champions League.

West Ham, also interested in Elliott, are currently unwilling to meet the price tag as it stands.

For Newcastle, he could soften the blow of losing Isak while they could also receive a fee close to nine figures in a blockbuster swap deal.

When asked about his Liverpool future ahead of the Euros campaign, Elliott told Hayters TV: "I am coming to an age where I do not want to be wasting years of my career. I want to be the best player I can be, and if [the way to do] that is to go somewhere else, then it is a decision that I am going to have to make."

Newcastle have been searching for a right-winger and Elliott could fit that mould perfectly. Liverpool would also receive a huge discount on Isak while only needing to give up a player on the fringes of the first team. Such a swap deal could be help both parties, with Liverpool receiving one of the best players in the league and Newcastle get £100m plus Elliott in return.
