Traffic on the M4 is facing severe delays of up to 90 minutes this afternoon.
The major motorway is partially closed in Berkshire, between junctions 12 for Reading and 13 for Newbury. The closure is due to a large oil spillage.
Drivers have been told to avoid the area and take alternative routes.
Lanes 1 and 2 (of 3) are closed on the M4 westbound between J12 Reading and J13 Newbury due to a collision.
National Highways said: "Recovery is underway and specialist crews are working to clear a large spillage from the carriageway. "There are delays of up to 90 minutes on the approach. If these delays impact on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey."
