Stubborn stains can be particularly tough to remove from baking trays. It can be very frustrating to want a quick and easy oven meal, but realise that your tray is marked.
While some people may choose to needlessly bin their stained baking tray, experts are advising them to use one tip to clean it instead. The method can restore even the grimiest trays and does not take long to complete. It is best used on solid metal trays rather than non-stick or Teflon surfaces.
The cleaning experts recommend soaking the tray in hot and soapy water for 30 minutes before using a 2p coin to scrape away the burnt-on residue. They advise scrubbing the 2p in a circular motion to leave the tray "looking brand new".
The Cleaning Collective said: "The 2p coin hack become popular through Facebook groups and it really is an effective way to clean your dirty baking trays. All you have to do is submerge your tray in hot soapy water for a good half an hour.
"Take it out, then use the 2p coin to scrub the tray, working in a circular motion. The coin is really effective at removing even the most hardened grime and leaving it looking brand new."
The 2p coin's copper edges provide the right amount of abrasion to remove stains. It also doesn't scratch or damage the surface of metal bakings trays.

The copper is soft enough to avoid damage, unlike steel wool or scrubbing pads. It is also firm enough to remove stubborn marks and stains effectively.
However, the experts added: "One thing to mention is that the coin trick can damage non-stick trays." The coins can damage non-stick trays and rub away the protective coating.
According to the cleaning experts, the best method to remove stains from non-stick trays is creating a paste from baking soda and water. They explained: "Remove any loose residue using some kitchen roll and get to work filling your sink with a cup of baking soda and hot water.
"Leave it for around an hour, then give it a good scrub with a sponge. Rinse away any left over residue, and stick it in the dishwasher if you have one."
