Owen Farrell's final Lions audition did not go to plan when he was taken off after just 19 minutes of Racing 92's 29-15 Challenge Cup semi-final loss to Lyon.
The Lyon clash was the Farrell's last chance to impress the Lions head coach, and his father Andy, before he announces the squad to tour Australia on Thursday.
He suffered a head injury making a tackle but walked off the pitch after being replaced suggesting it is not too serious.
But time has ran out for Farrell Jnr to make a case although there is no indication he would miss the trip because of this blow and if he does it will be a selection call.
The former England captain has had a disjointed first season in France missing chunks of it with a groin injury which has restricted his kicking.
Finn Russell and Fin Smith have both made compelling cases for inclusion as a fly-half and George Ford, Sam Prendergast and Marcus Smith are still in with a shout.
Farrell started Sunday's game at inside centre and that versatility is another advantage he would have in tour selection.
Farrell toured with the Lions in 2013, 2017 and 2021 playing six Tests across the three trips. Lyon's win means they will face Bath in the Cardiff final on May 23.
