's close friend has spoken out about why the Sentebale charity row has "really stung" for Meghan Markle. The Duchess of Sussex, although not at the centre of the row, appears to have been thrown into it after a video of her seemingly Sentebale's chair, Dr Sophie Chandauka, resurfaced. The Duke of Sussex, who is also the co-founder of Sentebale, made the decision to step down as patron at the charity last week.
In the video, Meghan can be seen seemingly instructing Dr Chandauka where to stand during a photograph opportunity at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge in Florida last April. Harry reportedly later asked Dr Chandauka to release a public statement in support after Meghan received brutal comments about the seemingly awkward moment - to which she refused.
Speaking to the Daily Mail in defence of Meghan, Alex Rayner - who claims Harry is happy for him to speak out - has defended Harry's wife. He stated that Dr Chandauka "should have been delighted to have Meghan there".
He added: "When you have both the Sussexes there it doubles the reaction, the power of it. And yet here she [Dr Chandauka] is refusing to get hold of a negative narrative which damages Meghan. It makes you wonder where it came from? It's Harry's charity polo match and Meghan is his wife, of course, she should have expected her there."
