Nick Knowles has been forced to step back after a new injury blow.

The 62 year old TV personality was gearing up to dazzle audiences for movie week alongside his dance partner Luba Mushtuk. However, the duo has had to withdraw from this week's performance, with hopes of returning to the stage the next weekend.

In an exclusive video message aired on Strictly's spin-off show It Takes Two, hosted by Janette Manara, Nick and Luba shared their disappointment but remained hopeful. Addressing fans, Nick revealed: "So during our first dress rehearsal today, our run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately, I damaged my knee and it's quite painful."

He continued, explaining the medical advice he received: "So the physios have decided that I need to go for an MRI."

Luba chimed in with support, saying: "Yeah, so unfortunately we'll not be dancing tomorrow but we really really hope that the knee will be better for the next week and yeah, we'll be back on the dance floor," reports .

With a positive outlook, Nick assured viewers: "Fingers crossed, we really hope we'll be back and see you all guys very soon."

Clutching his crutch, he joked: "Even if we have to glitter up the crutches, I am determined to get back and to try and dance for you next week."

The heartfelt update prompted a wave of sympathy from fans on social media platform X. One concerned viewer commented: "Oh my God it's not even Nick's arm that's sustained an injury it's his knee... poor guy."

Others sent well-wishes, with one writing: "Get better soon Nick! Speedy recovery."

Another fan expressed similar sentiments: "Aww get better soon Nick."

For movie week, Nick and Luba were set to bring the Charleston to life with 'Rain On The Roof' from the beloved film Paddington 2. But unexpected changes were afoot, as was shared on Strictly's official Instagram page on October 4.

The update revealed: "As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery."

Nick, it seems, has been dogged by misfortune since the current season of Strictly commenced in September. Merely two days post the series' inaugural live show, he disclosed an arm and shoulder injury sustained while changing a tyre.

Nonetheless, he secured a medical thumbs-up to carry on dancing last weekend.

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday, October 5th at 6:25pm on BBC One.
