The standard airport experience is a look round as well as a couple of cafes and restaurants serving a much-needed pint or coffee. However, the story is very different at Airport where you can find the only full-scale inside an airport anywhere in the world.
Airbräu is the name of the airport's fantastic microbrewery, serving its own home-brewed beer for over 20 years. Delighting visitors since 1999, Airbräu offers a sense of Bavarian pub culture whilst serving up traditional delicacies such as schnitzel, bratwurst sausages and sauerkraut to keep hungry travellers satisfied. The dishes are freshly prepared and the ingredients are sourced locally.
Providing a pub-atmosphere at Munich Airport, guests can take a seat between shiny copper brewing kettles in Airbräu's restaurants or relax and enjoy a lovely pint in the beer garden whilst watching the planes take off and land in the sunshine.
The beer here is also of amazing value, a half litre will set you back less than £3.40 (€4). Airbräu beers are available in 0.4L, 0.5L, as well as full litres.
Airbräu also offers brewery tours to the public so you can learn and see their incredible brewing process up-close. Lasting around 45 minutes, the tour also includes a beer tasting.
Airport transfer company says the Airport's brewery is not to be skipped.
Hadleigh Diamond, Commercial Director of SCS Chauffeurs, says: "If you're flying from Munich, don't skip Airbräu-it's the only full-scale brewery inside an airport anywhere in the world.
"You can have a proper Bavarian beer brewed on-site, and there's even a beer garden if the weather's good. It's one of the few places where arriving early really means something."
Accommodating up to 250 people Airbräu hosts a list of well-known bands and comedians who can see you off from Munich in style. As well as serving home-brewed beers on site, in the Airbräu restaurant travellers can also get the incomparable taste at home with their handy Aircraft six-packs or the party barrels so you can have a taste of Munich from the comfort of your own home.
Airbräu also has a list of seasonal beers. The year kicks off with Starkbierzeit which translates to 'strong beer time'. As we go into summer the dark "Mayday" wheat beer is poured at the Maifest (May Festival).
The start of Bavaria's "fifth season" which begins every year on November 11 at 11:11am until Ash Wednesday sees the return of Gaudium.
To round off the year punters enjoy a refreshing sip of their dark winter beer, Krampus.
