American voters, particularly those in Donald Trump's MAGA base, are incensed over the president's refusal to release the alleged Epstein files, a recent poll indicates. Despite campaign promises to reveal all involved parties, the Trump administration has now stated there is no such Epstein list.
The Democracy Institute's latest poll reveals that 67% of MAGA supporters who backed Trump last November are at odds with his decision, compared to 58% of Kamala Harris voters who also disagree. First-time voters in 2024 are notably perturbed, with 71% opposing Trump's choice, while across all Americans, 63% are against it, showing a clear majority.
These developments have taken a toll on Trump's approval ratings, suggesting his own followers might be reconsidering their support. Currently, 50% of Americans disapprove of President Trump's performance.
Why are Trump's supporters so angry? This backlash follows a Justice Department and FBI statement last week, which released an unsigned memo denying the existence of an Epstein client list, contradicting Attorney General Pam Bondi's earlier claim that the list was "on her desk."
The DOJ's decision has stirred controversy among Trump supporters, as the Epstein case was a pivotal reason for their allegiance. FBI Director Kash Patel and his deputy Dan Bongino, before assuming their roles, had consistently accused the so-called "deep state" of shielding a secretive list from the public eye, reports the Mirror US.

Furthermore, they had persistently maintained that Epstein's death was not a suicide. Confirming their assertions false, the DOJ released a memo stating Epstein indeed died by suicide while detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City in 2019.
President Trump shared his vexation on social media on Saturday, distressed by the discord riddling his staunch "Make America Great Again" followers over this schism, particularly the attacks on Attorney General Pam Bondi, whom he praised. In his extensive post, Trump neglected to mention Bongino.
Puzzled by the infighting, Trump lamented, "What's going on with my 'boys' and, in some cases, 'gals?'" He continued, "They're all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We're on one Team, MAGA, and I don't like what's happening."
Nonetheless, after a rigorous months-long scrutiny of evidence held by government authorities, the Justice Department concluded in the Monday memo that no further disclosures were either suitable or necessary. The department emphasised that much of the material was sealed by the courts to shield victims, and remarked that "only a fraction" would have been made public if Epstein had faced trial.
