The US Open is underway at Flushing Meadows, with some blockbuster names in action on the first day in New York. Novak Djokovic, Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz were among the men's winners in the first round, while 2021 champion Daniil Medvedev crashed out against Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi.
On the women's side of things, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka cruised into the second round, as did Emma Raducanu, Jessica Pegula and Jasmine Paolini. The second day of tennis at the final Grand Slam of the year also offers up a stellar cast, with more fireworks almost guaranteed.
