Battlefield 6 open beta 2 release time, dates, new map, rewards and game modes

The first Battlefield 6 open beta broke all kinds of records during its first weekend, attracting hundreds of thousands of players on Steam to become the platform's most popular open beta.

Publisher Electronic Arts will be hoping to further smash those records when the Battlefield 6 open beta makes its return to PlayStation, Xbox and PC for a second weekend of action.

The Battlefield 6 open beta weekend 2 has an August 14 release date and a 9am BST UK release time on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The beta runs until 9am BST UK time on the morning of August 18.

If you've already downloaded the beta then you can carry on playing once the servers go online later this week.

Indeed, returning players can still access the menu screen, where they can adjust settings and check out the challenges.

The second beta weekend will feature all of the maps and modes from weekend 1, albeit with a few new additions.

Among the new additions is the Empire State map, which takes place in Brooklyn. Joining the likes of Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak and Iberian Offensive, Empire State is described as an "infantry-only map featuring explosive engagements spanning alleys, rooftops, and the iconic streets of Brooklyn".

The Battlefield 6 open beta weekend 2 also introduces the Rush and Squad Deathmatch game modes.

"A team of attackers and defenders battle for control of a series of Military Communication systems (M-COMs)," reads the Rush description.

"Attackers have to plant explosives at each system and prevent defenders from diffusing them before they detonate. When all M-COMs are destroyed, the fight moves to the next sector.

"The match ends when all M-COM systems are destroyed, or the attackers run out of lives."

There are even new rewards to unlock, which can be used in the main game when it launches in October.

The first challenge tasks players with capturing 42 flags in Conquest, Domination or King of the Hill. The rewards is the War Machine Vehicle Skin.

Another challenge involves getting 200 kills or assists during the beta weekend, which unlocks the Bat Company Dog Tag.

Finally, the third weekend 2 challenge tasks players with capturing ten sectors in Breakthrough or Rush. This unlocks the Dominion Weapon Package.
