Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms with rain in Ahmedabad today, which may pose as a hindrance during the Rath Yatra. With temperatures ranging from 28 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius, the residents can expect a humid day ahead today during the procession with rainfall.

Ahmedabad Weekly Weather ForecastJuly 7 will see thunderstorms accompanied by rain, while July 8 to 10 will have generally cloudy skies with light rain expected. The trend continues with rain forecasted on July 11 and 12, with minimum temperatures ranging from 27 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures steady around 34 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius throughout the week.

Gujarat Weather ReportJuly 6 saw light to moderate rainfall across several regions including Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, Valsad, and Daman, Dadra, and Nagar Haveli. Parts of Kutch, Saurashtra, North, and Central Gujarat experienced intermittent rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Looking ahead to July 11 and 12, mild rain with thundershowers is expected in many areas of Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Navsari, Tapi, Dang, and Valsad districts. Similar weather conditions are anticipated in some parts of Kutch, Saurashtra, North, and Central Gujarat during this period. It commences with the chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balbhadra, and sister Subhadra departing from the historic 400-year-old Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur.The procession not only includes these three chariots but also features about 15 adorned elephants, 100 trucks displaying tableaux, and participants from religious groups, akharas, local gyms, and singing troupes, as outlined on the official government website. Spanning an 18 km route through the Old City, the yatra returns to the temple by approximately 8:30 PM.
