Chinmay Sharma, a Delhi-based martial artist, has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new Guinness World Record (GWR) for the highest unassisted martial arts 360 kick (male) at 2.08 m (6 ft 9 in). Sharma, who has been practicing martial arts for over 15 years, performed the record-breaking kick on August 4, showcasing his expertise in Tang Soo Do, a Korean martial arts discipline.The viral video of Sharma's achievement has garnered widespread attention and praise on social media, with many users hailing him for making the country proud. "Thank you for making India proud," wrote one user, while another commented, "I am always proud and lucky to have a teacher like you sir."
This is not Sharma's first GWR achievement, as he has previously been recognized for his martial arts expertise. As the head coach at Lion Institute of Martial Arts for seven years, Sharma trains over 150 students and provides self-defence training to women.Tang Soo Do, the martial art form showcased by Sharma, has a rich history originating from China's Tang Dynasty and influenced by karate and taekkyeon. The World Tang Soo Do Association recognises the art form by various names throughout the eras, including Hwa Rang Do, Moo Sul, Kyuck Too Ki, Soo Bahk Ki, Soo Byuck Ki, Taek Kyun, and more.
