The 3-0 whitewash at the hand of New Zealand has put India on the backfoot ahead of the much awaited Australia tour. For the first time in 10 years, India were handed a drubbing on their home soil in a Test series. Rohit Sharma has been the centre of attraction as the Indian captain faired very poorly in the whole series. The 37 year old failed to show up with the bat and his leadership acumen also faced severe scrutiny. Rohit retired from the T20Is after guiding the Men In Blue to the T20 World Cup title earlier this year. His form in the red ball cricket hasn't been satisfactory as he has been going under a rough patch. Rohit's record in Test cricket fell to a new low as the Indian captain could only register 91 runs in the three Test series against New Zealand. The player has already entered the twilight period of his career and former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth believes Rohit will hang up his boots if he fails to perform in Australia. On his YouTube channel, the 1983 World Cup winning star said, "100 percent, you have to start thinking ahead (if India doesn't do well in Australia). If Rohit Sharma doesn't do well, I think he himself will retire from Test cricket, for all you know. He will play ODIs only. He has already left T20I cricket. We have to keep in mind that he is also ageing. He is no longer getting younger. Srikkant also praised Rohit for accepting his flaws after the heavy defeat. "At least, Rohit Sharma had the guts. Hats off to Rohit Sharma for accepting the fact that he played badly throughout the series and captained badly. That's a great thing. That's the first move of a player to get back to the rhythm. Accepting your fault is very important. That's a very important quality of a human being. He accepted it openly and that means he is on the road to recovery, that's my opinion.
