India and China can develop rapidly and that “will change the whole world,” national security advisor Ajit Doval told Wang Yi, senior Chinese leader and Foreign Minister on Thursday. In an effort to ease the tension along the line of actual control, Doval and Wang Yi, senior leader of the Chinese Communist Party and director, Central Foreign Affairs Office, met in St. Petersburg, Russia, on the sidelines of the National Security Advisors conference for BRICS countries. Russia, Brazil and South Africa are the other countries in the grouping. Meeting after a long while, both Doval and Wang felt the stability in the relationship between China and India was “in the fundamental and long term interests of the two peoples and conducive to regional peace and development.” They also agreed to ensure that the level of mutual understanding improved, that bilateral relations got better and also, the importance of staying in constant contact.Wang felt that both india and China had the ability to view each other in the right light, handle differences pragmatically and ensure bilateral ties were back on track. Doval stressed the need for “common development.” If China and India developed rapidly, it would benefit 2.8 billion people (the population of the two countries) and “change the world.”
