Send Push

Pakistan had a wonderful start to their ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign. They managed to defend 116 runs against Sri Lanka to begin their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note. But everything seems to be not right in Pakistan cricket as it stands. As per a Cricbuzz report, Pakistan women cricketers are yet to receive their salaries for the past four months. The players are on a 23-month contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board and as per the report, they haven’t been paid since June 2024. The current contract is expected to expire on June 30, 2025, and a review is slated to take place after one year. But any kind of assessment is pending and PCB insisted the review is a work in progress. In an interaction with Cricbuzz PCB confirmed the development. "It is a work in progress. "As soon as the lists are finalised and approved, contracts will be offered with effect from 1 July 2024." A PCB official explained to Cricbuzz that the reason for the delay is that "there is too much going on and there is lack of time to address all matters". PCB has a policy of not paying any kind of daily allowances both men or women players during training camps if they are providing the accommodations and meals to the cricketers. For the September training camp, Fatima Sana and other players weren’t paid anything by PCB. Alongside the women’s team, men’s team players are also awaiting for their salaries for the last three months. As per a PTI report, PCB also has delayed paying Babar Azam and other players. A source told PTI, “For the last three months the players are waiting for their payments and also an announcement of the central contracts list.” Apart from the salary the players are also expected to be paid a share of the ICC revenue PCB generates.
