It has caused a panic among Filipino Americans resulting in mass buying of the Mang Tomas sauce across supermarkets and stores in the US.However, a ban on the Mang Tomas sauce has not been effected and people can still buy them. However, a new ruling by the US Food and Drug Administration will restrict the import of new version of the product, which means people will be able to buy only until stocks last. Some of the ingredients used in the sauce are harmful for human consumption, the FDA ruling said. The FDA said that the Mang Tomas banana sauce also contains Potassium Iodate, a dough strengthener that can interfere with thyroid function at high doses, among others."I'm absolutely devastated by this news Jufran did nothing wrong! Justice for Mang Tomas 😔," one user said.

"Kamala will bring back Bagoong and Mang Tomas! Vote!" one user said.
