Billionaire Mark Cuban, known for being one of the owners of the NBA franchise Dallas Mavericks and for his famed presence as one of the sharks in the show Shark Tank, announced in an interview that he would like to purchase the television network Fox and the Elon Musk owned platform X, formerly known as Twitter. However, Cuban said in the interview with Wired, the technology magazine, that he doesn't have the money to buy Fox and X. If he did, he would have attempted to do so. As per a report by the Daily Beast, Cuban was asked by Wired journalist Lauren Goode about the 'boomers,' or the 'Fox News generation.' Cuban insisted that the solution to this problem lies in buying Fox News and restructuring it. "If I had enough money to do it, which I don’t, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.” Cuban, who has a net worth of $3.3 billion, said. He explained that acquiring Fox News would cost him between $15 billion to $20 billion. In this interview, Cuban was asked why he doesn't buy Fox, asking him to explain to readers "how does he not have enough to buy Fox?" After calculating the costs, which include Fox's $15.6 billion market cap, a 50% premium, and other expenses, Cuban explained, "I don’t have $15 or $20 billion in cash sitting around." When asked how they would fix Fox's propaganda problem, the response was simply, "Too late." The conversation then shifted to X, formerly known as Twitter, and Cuban was asked if he would buy it. Cuban then says, "Yeah, for sure," but added that convincing Elon Musk to sell, saying, "I wouldn’t know how to do that."Musk and Cuban have a sketchy past, with Cuban having made allegations that Musk has been manipulating algorithms to push agendas. Following Cuban's Daily Show interview, Musk hit out at Cuban saying that the algorithm behind X is 'open source.'
