India wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik has said that he would look forward to Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag as two of the team's designated finishers in the shortest format. The spot of a finisher is very crucial in T20Is and ever since former India captain MS Dhoni made a niche out of it, India's search for someone similar aggravated but the mission hasn't been very successful. While Pandya and Rishabh Pant have tried to play that part over the last few years, Rinku Singh has been a valuable asset to the team in the role.Karthik though had special praise for Pandya and Riyan but not Rinku, backing them to become India's designated finishers."For finishers, I have a lot of time for Riyan Parag and Hardik Pandya. Pandya as a finisher is again someone very special. He has won games. Yes, he has batted for the Gujarat Titans slightly up the order in between IPL, I did think he enjoyed that role a lot more," Karthik said while speaking on Cricbuzz.

"India will do well with two strong finishers. Bat speed is needed, Riyan Parag has pure muscle and a lot of skill in terms of hitting a ball. Add to the fact that they are proper all-rounders, India is going to be a different team here on in T20 World Cups and the Champions Trophy as well," Karthik said. Riyan has played six T20Is since July but he couldn't replicate the sizzling form he showed in IPL 2024. The Bangladesh matches give him another chance to make a strong impact not just as a middle-order batter but also as a finisher. Captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pandya are the two big names in the Indian team while the sole other member of the triumphant World Cup unit in Gwalior is pacer Arshdeep Singh. You may also like
