Former President Donald Trump has been falsely claiming that illegal Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are 'eating pets', according to the city's mayor, Rob Rue. The official, however, acknowledges that the influx of 20,000 Haitian immigrants in recent years has strained local infrastructure and contributed to an increase in fatal car accidents.During a Friday press conference, Trump accused illegal immigrants of 'destroying the way of life' and vowed mass deportations. He has attributed the rise in car accidents to illegal immigration, saying migrants aren't used to driving cars and aren't accustomed to the rules of the road. An emailed threat said bombs had been planted in the homes of Springfield’s mayor and other city officials, said Karen Graves, a city spokesperson.
