Jaipur: Chaos reigned on Ajmer Road on Tuesday morning after traffic was suspended on the Gopalbari-bound flank of the elevated road, a.k.a. Acharya Tulsi Setu, for repairs from Monday evening. There were traffic snarls on the stretch between the Queen's Road crossing and the Jacob Road crossing as vehicles moved at a snail's pace until afternoon.
"It took at least 30 minutes from the Shyam Nagar crossing to the Raj Bhawan Road crossing – a stretch that is barely 2km," said Amit Anand Choudhary, who travels between Chitrakoot and Bais Godam regularly.
Police deployed on Ajmer Road said the problem occurred as all traffic headed to the elevated road was diverted to Ajmer Road, leading to utter chaos during peak office hours between 10am and noon.
