Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court Tuesday asked the state govt to share their action taken regarding the security of judicial officers in the state. The court sought information from the state govt regarding the purchase of CCTV cameras installed for security.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice M M Srivastava and Justice Mukesh Rajpurohit, gave this order while hearing the suo motu cognisance taken on the security of the judicial officers. During the hearing, the court remarked, "We do not want the security of judicial officers by putting pressure on the state govt, but the state govt should ensure judicial officers do not have any fear about their safety."
During the hearing, advocate general Rajendra Prasad, on behalf of the state govt, said that measures are being taken for the security of judicial officers. "CCTVs have been installed along with the deployment of home guards," said the AG.
The court noted that an ADJ level officer was shot dead in Jharkhand. A PIL is going on in the Jodhpur High Court in a similar case. After hearing the arguments, the court sought information on the action taken in the case so far, which should be presented in the court.
It may be recalled that the high court took suo motu cognisance of the issue of security of judicial officers in Nov 2022. It directed the state govt to appoint one security personnel each for their security at their home and courtroom.
