Kanpur: The body of a 35-year-old woman with her throat slit was found in the ruins behind her house in the Chaubepur area on Monday. Before the body was discovered, local sources reported that the deceased argued with her husband late Sunday night over his excessive drinking habit.
The ADCP West, Vijyendra Dwivedi, and a police team, along with forensic experts, arrived at the scene and initiated investigations.
Initial investigations indicated that the husband might have committed the murder and dumped the body in the ruins. The police detained the husband for questioning. After the forensic team collected evidence, the body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
The victim was identified as Binu, 35, the wife of Sanjay Sharma, who works at a local roadside eatery and lives in rented accommodation in the town. The police team arrived at the scene, followed by ADCP West Vijyendra Dwivedi and ACP Bilhaur. A forensic team was sent to the location to collect essential evidence.
The ADCP said that the suspect husband has been taken into custody, and the entire matter is being investigated. "Initial evidence suggests that the woman argued with her husband about his addiction to liquor, which led him to impulsively slit her throat and then dispose of her body in the ruins behind the house," the ADCP added.
