Youth drowns while bathing in Ganga

Kanpur: Police, with the help of divers, retrieved the body of a youth who went to bathe with his brothers at Bhagwatdas Ghat under the limits of Pheel Khana police station late Sunday evening and drowned. Nikhil Kumar (20), who lived near Defence Colony Bhagwatdas Ghat, had passed class 9 examination.

His family includes a younger brother Akhil, mother Shobha, and two sisters Khushi and Pooja. His father, Manoj Kumar, had passed away on April 11. According to family members, on late Sunday evening Nikhil went to bathe in the Ganga at Bhagwatdas Ghat with his younger brother Akhil and his uncle's son Ankit Kumar.

While bathing, all three suddenly went into deep water and began to drown. Upon hearing the commotion, divers present at the ghat jumped in and rescued Akhil and Ankit, but Nikhil drowned.tnn
