MANGALURU: A nine-year-old boy died after being hit by a car while standing near the sit-out of his house.
The deceased is Nawaf Ismail. The incident occurred in Kokkada village, Belthangady, on Tuesday evening.
In a complaint, Abdul Rahim M., a resident of the village, reported that his nephew, Mohammad Tabsir, was carelessly driving a car out of the shed when it hit Nawaf, who was standing near the house.
Nawaf sustained severe injuries to his leg, abdomen, and head.
The family and neighbours immediately called an ambulance and rushed Nawaf to Uppinangady Govt Hospital, where doctors provided first aid. He was then referred to Puttur Govt Hospital for further treatment.
The doctors at Puttur hospital declared Nawaf dead.
A case has been registered at Dharmasthala Police Station.
